A driver gets out of his car and hits a red light. The car catches fire – a first responder extinguishes the fire.
A driver hit a traffic light near Renningen (district of Böblingen) and got stuck in his vehicle. The 27-year-old was seriously injured when he was taken to hospital by a rescue helicopter, police said on Tuesday.
For reasons that have not yet been clarified, his car left the lane on Monday evening near the Leonberg-West junction, hit the traffic light and, after turning into the opposite lane, came to a stop. The car caught fire, but was quickly extinguished by first responders.
The main road between Renningen and Leonberg and the exit adjacent to Autobahn 8 have been temporarily closed. Due to damaged traffic lights, access and exit from the A8 is partially restricted, according to the police. Detours are in place.
