Wasen again finally! The Cannstatter Volksfest starts on Friday. The most important information and departure dates can be found here.
After a two-year pandemic break, the Cannstatter Volksfest takes place for the 175th time this year.
Compared to the Spring Festival, tents are now allowed to reopen in the fall. For three weeks, the Neckarpark event area is transformed into a huge funfair. A summary of the most important events and information:
Opening ceremony with tapping of the barrel
On Friday, September 23, the folk festival traditionally begins with the tapping of the barrel – this year for the first time with Mayor Frank Nopper. The celebration starts at 3.30 p.m. in the “Klauss & Klauss Dinkelacker Festzelt”.
Punctually at 10 a.m. on Sunday, September 25, the Swabian dialect service will take place in the Schwabenbräu tent. The motto of the service: “Come bravely, I’m coming (…)”.
In collaboration with the Southwest Showmen’s Association, the Circus and Showmen Pastoral invites you to an ecumenical service on Tuesday, October 4 at 10:30 a.m.
“Spardaegle” on the Wasen
From noon on September 26, all Swabians with a VVS ticket will probably have a beating heart. VVS passengers benefit from discounts at all fairgrounds on presentation of a valid ticket.
In addition, all Stuttgart local transport customers can enjoy the VVS lunch with inexpensive Göckele and free coffee cups under the Klauss & Klauss marquee. The offer is valid Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., except October 3.
The popular Family Days take place every Wednesday on September 28 and October 5. You can save all day with fairgrounds, innkeepers and even in the parking lot. There are also many surprises for the little ones.
More than ten minutes of fireworks announce the end of the folk festival on Sunday October 9, from 9.30 p.m. With a musical accompaniment of current hits, the finale was always a well-attended conclusion in the years before the pandemic.
Arrival and parking
Due to the large number of visitors, it is recommended to use public transport to get around, and not only on the day of the VVS. Due to the limited number of parking spaces available, Park & Ride parking spaces are available, you can find an overview here. There are also disabled parking spaces with level access right next to the festival site.
