Unfortunately, most screen adaptations of games cannot be considered successful. However, there are films based on game productions that, despite their dubious qualities, have almost become cult, and some are even remembered with sympathy. What are these productions? Check by yourself.
The intrusion of the media is nothing new, and neither is the inspiration of artists with works from other industries. So we will find many examples of such collaboration, such as movies based on books, games inspired by movies or screen adaptations of games. However, the last of these cases is quite specific, because there are “works” that are bad both as screen adaptations and as films in general (also check our list of the 10 worst game shows).
On the other hand, we are dealing with productions that appealed to viewers but did not necessarily work as a screen adaptation of the game, and one of the last such examples may be The Witcher from Netflix. The creators of the series are accused by fans of the brand of disregarding the source material in the form of books and games from CD Projekt. However, this production is praised by others, as evidenced by its great popularity.
As it turns out, however, the questionable quality of the production isn’t always her undoing. There are cases when a movie is so bad that it becomes a cult, and this also applies to filming games. In this list, we decided to present movie adaptations of game productions that are “so bad they’re good” and have become iconic. You won’t find the best performances here either, despite everything remembered with emotion.
