The LOTTO SuperLIGA tennis matches are not slowing down. The second round of the Polish team championships takes place next Sunday. They await the Poznań derby and the rematch of last year’s final.
Derby of the capital of Wielkopolska
In Poznań, tennis fans sharpen their teeth for the derby match between AZS TENIS and WKS Grunwald. The military is advancing. Last week they won at home with WKT Mera 5:1 and the title of Enea MVP in the 1st round went to their player – Jasza Szajrych. The “academics” will participate in the derby meeting in completely different moods. Before the first round, they had a problem implementing the optimal line-up and clearly succumbed to OSAVI Tenis Team Kalisz 0:6. In the AZS colors we will certainly not see Magda Linette, who is currently participating in the WTA tournament in Rome. The visitors seem to be the favourites, but derbies always have their own rules.
The leader will appear in Warsaw
The meeting in Warsaw promises to be interesting. The titled WTK Mera, defending third place from last season, will face the sensational leader from Kalisz – OSAVI Tenis Team. The capital team started the season with a defeat to WKS Grunwald Poznań and will fight to regain the fans’ trust. Its composition is full of familiar names, but the participants in Sunday’s duel will be known only a few hours before the first match. The rivals from Kalisz will try to maintain the winning streak. There is a good atmosphere in the club, which has made significant reinforcements before the season (including Piotr Matuszewski’s accession), there is a good atmosphere, and the board is quietly counting on the FINAL FOUR. A win in the second game would certainly bring the team closer to that goal.
A battle is brewing in Bytom
We can expect a balanced duel in Silesia. The hosts – KS Górnik Bytom, are buoyed by a high victory over CKT Grodzisk Mazowiecki, but it must be remembered that the runner-up of the LOTTO SuperLIGA 2022, which mainly plays juniors and cadets, did not set the bar high for them. The Silesians count on another victory, but the rival will be much more demanding. KT KUBALA Ustroń took a stand against BKT Advantage Bielsko-Biała a week earlier, which should come as no surprise. The visiting team includes well-known Polish and foreign names, including Czech Lukas Rosol, Ukrainian Illya Marchenko and Grzegorz Panfil. The Ustroń team will definitely come to Bytom for three points.
A rematch of last year’s final
The meeting in Kolejka takes place in Kozerki, where CKT Grodzisk Mazowiecki plays its matches. It could not be otherwise as last year’s Polish champion comes to Mazovia. BKT Advantage Bielsko-Biała won in the first round over the strong Ustroń and once again signaled championship hopes. On the other hand, CKT has a lot to prove after a one-sided duel with KS Górnik Bytom (0:6). The favorites on paper are the visitors, but sports can be unpredictable. Kozerki will also host Match of the Queue, which will be broadcast live on Polsat Sport Extra. Two-time Polish junior indoor champion Daria Górska of CKT will battle for the title with Viktoria Hruncakova (formerly Kuzmova) of BKT. The Slovak has won four WTA doubles tournaments. Her highest WTA ranking in singles was 43rd.
The title sponsor of the tournament is the LOTTO brand owned by Totalizator Sportowy. The group of sponsors also included: PZU, Krajowa Grupa Spożywcza, Enea, Kanga, Recman and Enel-Sport.
