The end of the year is a good time for New Year predictions. As we know very well, none of the revolutionary theories have been proven so far. There was no end to the world either at the turn of the millennium or in 2012. Despite this, ominous prophecies, especially those made by legendary clairvoyants, are still in demand. What prophecies are related to 2023? Who were Nostradamus and Baba Wanga and why you should not worry about all this – we explain in the article.
Prophecies and prophecies as old as the world
The subject of divination has been known as far back as the history of human civilization. In ancient times, when there was a widespread belief in the efficacy of magic, purification rites, divination, sacrifices to the gods, or great oracles to which people from all over the continent came, such as the oracle at Delphi, were common. It’s perfectly logical – the less a man knew about the world, the more he explained to himself the existence of deities and magical phenomena.
Today, although we know a lot more about candles, we also like to reach for different types of prophecies. However, remember to only treat them in terms of entertainment. Especially that most of the prophecies are extremely general, moreover, they are mutually exclusive.
Famous seers and famous prophets
Among the most famous soothsayers in human history are:
- Pythia (priestess of the Oracle of Delphi)
- Kassandra (Trojan Princess)
- Melampusa (legendary seer from Greek mythology)
- Mimira (sage known from Norse mythology)
- Phineus (king of Thrace, seer from Greek mythology)
- Calchas (one of the most famous Greek soothsayers, bird singers)
- Nostradamus (French prophet, adviser to the Queen of France, lived in the 16th century)
- Sibyl of Cuma (Priestess of the Oracle of Apollo in Cumae, Campania, Italy)
- Baba Wanga (Vangelija Pandeva Dimitrowa, Bulgarian blind mystic who lived in the 20th century)
Today, when weather forecasts are announced by soothsayers instead of priests, the role of prophecies and prophecies has definitely diminished. However, this does not mean that the profession of fortune teller has disappeared from the market, on the contrary – it works and is very popular.
Esoteric business in Poland is worth it PLN 2 million, while a statistical Pole spends PLN 50 per year on esoteric services.
It turns out that the word “business” best reflects the nature of modern magical services. While in ancient times bards and diviners were considered to be people with supernatural abilities and their role was associated with a religious cult, today it is enough to become a fortune teller determination and vigilance.
A clairvoyant must be a perceptive person, have significant psychological abilities – explains Dr. Tomasz Witkowski, a psychologist.
Scientists claim that clairvoyants most often use the so-called “cold reading”. This is a well-known psychological trick of stating the obvious and likely. Mostly these are prophecies that the interlocutor simply wants to hear.
Using psychic services is an expression eternal human desire – the desire to know and control the future. This is argued by psychologist Dr. Konrad May for People want to believe that there are people who can explain things that we don’t understand ourselves. The services of fortune tellers are usually reached by people in a difficult life situation, exhausted by the difficult situation they found themselves in – be it due to illness, the break-up of a relationship or the threat of losing a job (source)
Prophecies manipulated
Some believe that the prophecies of the most famous historical prophets are reflected in reality. This applies especially to Nostradamus (1503-1566), a French pharmacist and astrologer, adviser to the Queen of France, Catherine de’ Medici.

The mystic had predicted the circumstances surrounding the death of the queen’s husband, Henry II of Valois. However, it is enough to look at the content of some of Nostradamus’s prophecies to conclude that are so ambiguous that it is possible to match them to many events.
The vast majority of scholars argue that the connections between Nostradamus’s predictions and historical events after they were written are the result of misinterpretation and mistranslation, not supernatural abilities. Indeed, it is quite unlikely that a mystic born in 1503 would have predicted … an economic crisis in the United States that did not yet exist.
The same applies to the prophecies about the so-called Baba Wanga, called Nostradamus from the Balkans. Vangelija Pandeva Dimitrova (1911-1996) was a Bulgarian blind mystic, healer and clairvoyant. She was illiterate and spoke a dialect that was difficult to understand.
Baba Wanga is credited with prophecies regarding m.in. the death of Joseph Stalin, the collapse of the USSR, the sinking of the submarine Kursk and the attack on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. However, it is worth noting that Baba Wanga’s prophecies have been subject to much manipulation. People around her claimed that she was not in the habit of talking about the end of the world and was reluctant to speak out on political issues.
The end of the world that never was
One of the most widespread prophecies is that of the end of the world. What connects them? As you can see, none of them have worked so far. According to numerous theories, we should be at least after a few global extinctions. They were to take place in the years:
- 375-400 (the date of the end of the world was set by St. Martin of Tours)
- 992 (according to one theory, Good Friday was the Feast of the Annunciation. Biblical Christian tradition (based on the Book of Revelation) held that this marks the beginning of the Antichrist’s reign)
- 1412 (end of the world according to St. Vincent of Ferrara)
- February 20, 1524 (announcement of a universal deluge by Johannes Stoeffler)
- December 31, 1999 and 2000 (another “round” of dates related to millenarianism, marking the potential end of the world)
- May 21, 2011 (the end of the world according to Harold Camping)
- December 21, 2012 (the last day listed in the Mayan calendar. According to some interpretations, it was when the world would end)
End of the world 2023. Nostradamus prophecy
Nostradamus predicted a number of tragic events for the history of mankind, which were to come in 2022 and 2023. He pointed in particular to armed conflicts and nationwide movements that would cause quarrels between people. However, after fierce battles, the prophet predicted the arrival of a special person who would bring new order and order to the entire planet. In addition, the Frenchman also had a vision of the awakening of mighty volcanoes. The devastation caused by the eruption will be enormous! Nostradamus believed that few people would survive the coming disasters, but with the advent of a new era, humanity would be rebuilt on new principles of peace and order.
