Kasia Golomska and Kamil Durski (until recently Lilly Hates Roses) appeared to the world seven months ago as ATLVNTA with the single “Die as I”, and their first musical child is born – the album ATLVNTA.
Kasia and Kamil started on the scene as very young people from small towns. Kasia was just finishing high school. They had an idea for themselves, they played straight from the heart. As Lilly Hates Roses, they made themselves known to fans of the alternative, performing at the most important Polish festivals and appearing on the most popular playlists in digital. They quickly gained the media’s sympathy and recognition in the industry. They performed at many concerts abroad, including the famous SXSW festival in Austin, Texas. It was a beautiful start, a beautiful maturation – now we meet them conscious and mature, although, as they say, “still in progress”.
Kasia Golomska explains why she chose such a stage style
The question “why are you changing the name?” they had heard countless times over the months. Some of the songs they chose to feature as singles responded to them. They also gave a taste of what we can expect from the album that was announced from the beginning.
Based on electronic beats and soulful energy, the new ATLVNTY sound could be called alternative rap or new wave pop, but it’s really hard for them to pin down a single patch. As they say themselves “in our music you can hear ourselves and all our musical fascinations, this time without brakes”. Lined with a nihilistic leitmotif, the lyrics are an integral part of the band’s style and are a collection of loose observations on everyday life, its bright and dark sides. No taboos.
– I believe that our album sends a positive message – says Kamil, who is the author of most of the lyrics. – The lyrics are a bit nostalgic – maybe only one is depressing – but we wanted it to be a pleasant journey. As I wrote, I was fascinated by human weakness as a quality that is normal, forgivable. One of the guiding principles is to stop punishing ourselves for things that we don’t want to change anymore.
The ATLVNTA album consists of eleven songs and four instrumental sketches. The author of the graphic concept, including the formation’s logo, is Angelika Bujak, and Zosia Zija and Jacek Pióro
On Thursday, September 23, 2021, ATLVNTA played the entire album during the concert at the SPATiF club in Warsaw.
