325 teams were registered in Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship for the 23rd edition of the Tymbark Cup tournament. On Thursday and Friday we meet the best teams in the province in Szczecinek.
The Tymbark Cup is the largest event of its kind for children aged 8 to 12 in Europe. It enjoys great interest in the country, and previous editions of the competition have featured a large group of current footballers currently playing in the top league or even the Polish national team. The competition is held in three age categories – up to 8, 10 and 12 years. Boys and girls compete separately.
– More than 70 bands will play in Szczecinek. I dare not point to the favourites, because it is the competition of the youngest – says Jakub Śpiegowski, the tournament coordinator in our province.
Eliminations began at the county level in March. The winners won promotion to the provincial tournament in Szczecinek. On Thursday, teams up to 12 compete, and a day later we know the best in the U8 and U10 categories.
– Szczecinek is not hosting the regional final for the first time, so everything will be tip-top. In order for it all to run smoothly, eight places are waiting for the participants – adds Śpiegowski.
The winners from Szczecinek will represent the province at the national finals in Warsaw.
